Research Assistant/Associate (Fixed Term) - Hibberd Group

A position is available for a highly motivated post-doctoral research associate working on the regulation of photosynthesis gene expression.

The successful applicant will join Professor Julian Hibberd's laboratory in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Cambridge. The project will focus on natural and induced variation in photosynthesis, and use mapping approaches to investigate causal loci underpinning this variation. Approaches will include analysis of variation in C4 photosynthesis traits, up-to-date approaches to map loci associated with this variation, and the induction of novel variation in C4 species followed by their mapping. Validation through transgenic testing will be required. Findings will be relevant to photosynthesis generally and the C4 pathway in particular.

The position is available from July 2018. The successful candidate will have a strong background in plant molecular biology and plant/crop genetics including a PhD in a relevant area (or have submitted a PhD by the time of appointment). Experience with natural variation, breeding programs, mapping and photosynthesis will be advantageous. Information on the laboratory is available at
