Building Services Technician

We are seeking a Building Services Technician to join our Facilities and Maintenance team. The successful candidate will carry out general building maintenance, repairs and alterations. Other tasks include co-ordinating collection, delivery and transportation of materials between the Department building on Downing Street and outlying facilities; providing cover/assistance for glass washing and autoclaving; liaising with the Facilities Manager on Health and Safety matters relating to workplace, equipment and work practices; sourcing and collecting materials from stores and/or local suppliers; accompanying contractors on site.

The Technician will also carry out routine Water Services testing. They will assist with loading and unloading deliveries, material and furniture for the Department including some large and heavy items.

We are seeking applicants with NVQ Level 3 in a maintenance-related subject, or equivalent. Carpentry skills, experience with power tools and an understanding of Building Services provision are essential, together with strong communication skills.
