Plant Sciences field course fund
Field courses are a key part of our undergraduate teaching. They help students put the material from their lectures in context, develop a spirit of curiosity, and engage with each other and their teachers in a more informal environment.
As part of our desire to widen participation, we want to raise funds to ensure all students who wish to attend our field courses can take full advantage of this opportunity, irrespective of their personal or financial background.
- £50 will top up funding for a student to attend a trip.
- £100 will provide support towards a student’s travel costs on an undergraduate field trip.
- £600 will make a significant contribution towards the costs of a student attending a field course.
- £2,000 provides full support for one student to attend the Tropical Field course for Ecology.
Tom ap Rees fund
The Tom ap Rees fund supports fourth-year PhD students in need of financial assistance to complete their studies. It was set up in 1996 in honour of Professor of Botany, Tom ap Rees, who was tragically killed on his bike on his way home from work. Our aim is to increase the fund to ensure we can support all postgraduate students in need, particularly those from underrepresented groups.
