Gap year job opportunity: Temporary Technician Post
Purpose of the role:
- To assist with the preparation of Undergraduate practical classes in the Department of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist with preparation of laboratory consumables, dispensing solutions and setting up student equipment.
- Preparation of plant material for practical classes, grown in the department greenhouse as well at the Plant Growth Facilities located in the Botanic Gardens
- Setting up class materials and moving equipment; this is at times a physically demanding role.
Person specification:
Education:
- We encourage applications from students taking Biology/Chemistry A levels
Skills:
- Able to work both independently as well as part of a team
- Essential to have good time management
- Undertake problem solving
- Working to strict deadlines
- IT skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
Terms of the role:
This post is 4 days, 24 hours per week during the 10 week term:
- 30th September to 6th December
- 6th January to 15th March
T3 grade 1, £12.14/hour
This post will provide an excellent opportunity for a student aiming to study natural science at university level, experiencing various laboratory techniques and working in a scientific environment.
