The Department has carried out a comprehensive COVID-19 risk assessment process and has opened to allow research work to take place. Senior Academic Promotions 2020

We are delighted to be able to announce the following promotions from 1 October for members of our academic staff:

Personal Professorship

  • Julia M Davies, Professor of Stress Signalling
    For her contributions to our understanding of the role of transport proteins, particularly in roots, in sensing environmental stresses and mediating responses to them
  • Ian R Henderson, Professor of Genetics and Epigenetics
    For his contribution to understanding recombination processes in plants, enabling novel strategies to generate genetic variation in plant breeding

University Senior Lecturer

  • Samuel Brockington, who combines being Curator of the Botanic Garden with research on the origin, evolution and diversification of the plant kingdom
