Pioneering researcher in meiotic recombination is remembered

Robin Holliday 1932 -2014

Robin Holliday is a remembered in an excellent obituary in Cell (view the pdf). Robin Holliday was a Postgraduate student in the Botany School (now Plant Sciences), University of Cambridge. During his Postgraduate studies in Cambridge and subsequent post doctoral research, he determined the mechanism of recombination during meiosis. The Holliday junction formed during recombination is named after its discoverer.
