Lab taster day for sixth-form students

last modified Jun 30, 2017 10:08 AM

On 28 July 2017 members of the Carr and Smith research groups and teaching hosted 36 sixth-form students from Northern Ireland in the Plant Sciences Department Teaching Lab as part of the Schools Outreach programme. Using lab exercises based on undergraduate practical classes, the students were introduced to studies of plant and algae, bumblebee and aphids, and viruses.

Virologist Dr Francis Wamonje holds students spellbound as he describes how basic research can be translated to benefit agriculture.
