Research Overview

Yan is interested in understanding Eco-Evo-Devo of patterns in plants. He will be studying diffraction gratings on petals of Hibiscus trionum and other plants in the Glover lab.

Biography

Yan obtained his PhD degree from the University of Michigan supervised by Prof. John Schiefelbein. During his PhD he studied evolution of root epidermal cell patterns across eudicots. Before awarded the fellowship to join the Glover lab, he worked as a postdoc at Hong Kong Baptist University where he assisted Prof. Jianming Li to establish the JC STEM Lab of Plant Biology and studied endoplasmic-reticulum-associated protein degradation (ERAD) of key phytosterol biosynthesis enzymes.
