Programme Manager (TIGR2ESS) (Fixed Term)

TIGR2ESS (Transforming India's Green Revolution by Research and Empowerment for Sustainable food Supplies) is a programme which will define the requirements for a new green revolution in India, and strengthen research capacity in the UK and India. TIGR2ESS will deliver fundamental research projects and facilitate researcher exchanges, leading to improved health, productivity and livelihoods for smallholder (particularly female) farmers in India.

A Programme Manager is required to lead the co-ordination of this £7.8M 4-year programme, funded by the RCUK Global Challenges Research Fund. The Programme Manager will establish partnerships and manage appointments with both UK and Indian institutions. Heading the TIGR2ESS administration team, they will organise, manage, and deliver day-to-day programme activities. They will co-ordinate exchanges between project partners and researchers; report progress to meetings of the Executive Leadership Group and International Advisory Board; ensure co-ordination of workshops, fieldwork, safety procedures, seminars, and meetings in the UK and India. They will have overall responsibility for researcher appointments, and will contribute to the development of mechanisms to validate and deliver cost recovery to partner organisations in both countries.

The successful candidate will have a good first degree; a PhD in a relevant field is desirable. They will have experience within a higher education, industry or government environment and knowledge of programme management. They will be able to synthesise and articulate concepts and present complex data. They will have the capacity to foster relationships with partner institutions, funding agencies, government and policy makers. They will have excellent writing and IT skills. Their interpersonal skills will enable them to lead a team effectively. They will have proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work pro-actively and independently to a given set of objectives.
