Research Interests

I am interested in mathematical modelling of biological systems. In particular I am interested in how to incorporate uncertainty into mathematical models and the impact uncertainty has on the dynamics of the system. My current research is looking at how best to control a disease outbreak (typically we are thinking about problems in agriculture and forestry) given that there is uncertainty in the future spread of the disease. In particular I am looking at how to incorporate epidemiological and economic dynamics into models that inform on disease control measures. I also have a more general interest in the area of food security and run a podcast series where I interview people on topics related to food security (www.greedyplanet.co.uk).
