Biography
I am a PhD student working in Plant Pathology group at NIAB. My PhD is focused on characterising the roles of stem rust effector proteins in wheat infection. Wheat stem rust fungi (Puccinia graminis sp. tritici – Pgt) is a serious threat to global wheat production. Effectors produced by this pathogen are critical for establishing infection in wheat. My research seeks to understand the functional roles of some recently identified Pgt effectors, and to identify the key host genes they target. Additionally, I will study the roles of the targeted host genes in promoting or suppressing infection.
