Jayden Engert is a Research Associate at the Departmetn of Plant Sciences, University of Cambridge.
Biography
Jayden is an ecologist whose research is focused on conservation questions around land cover change. After a master of science looking at tropical forest restoration, he completed his PhD at James Cook University in northern Australia, building improved spatial models of the impacts of major roads in forests across the global tropics. He has over eight years of experience as a geospatial and research technician across a wide variety of research topics from agricultural suitability mapping and savannah fire management to conservation impact assessments.

Forest Ecology and Conservation
Research Overview
Jayden’s research in the Forest Ecology and Conservation group will develop improved methods of quantifying the recovery of forest ecosystem function and model the drivers of this recovery. Using this information, he will be able to compare the effectiveness of restoration methods to recover forest ecological function and identify areas in which forests can recover naturally and where intensive interventions are required.
