Research Group
Research Overview
I am interested in how new cellular and developmental programmes evolve in plants, and how changes in gene regulatory systems contribute to the diversification of plant development. I am particularly interested in the molecular mechanisms underlying the functional evolution of transcription factors and how these changes generate new developmental functions.
My research integrates phylogenomics, comparative biology, transcriptomics, bioinformatics and genetics. In particular, I use the liverwort Marchantia polymorpha as a model system to understand the evolution of all land plants.
