Research Assistant/Associate in plant biology (Fixed Term)

A short term position has arisen to work in the laboratory of Professor David Baulcombe to carry out research on transgenic plants in which miRNAs have been blocked using target decoy RNAs. The research will require expertise in plant molecular biology and plant pathology. Familiarity with tomato genetics is essential. Candidates should have or shortly expect to have a PhD in plant biology.

  • Salary: will be in the range of £31,604-£38,833 for a Research Associate (Grade 7). Successful candidates who have not been awarded their PhD by the appointment date will be under-appointed as a Research Assistant (Grade 5) employed on a salary of £28,936 per annum. Upon award of the PhD the individual will be promoted to Research Associate (Grade 7).
  • Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 months in the first instance.
