Reception is open Monday to Thursday 8-4.30 and Friday 8-4.  Lunch is covered during term times and closed 12-1 out of term.

  • Dealing with enquiries from the department and general public;
  • provision of secretarial support to the department; requests should be made in person or via email, for typing, scanning, putting posters together and other clerical tasks; Helen will confirm when the job can be done, depending on other work;
  • outgoing post may be taken to reception;
  • sorting incoming post;
  • making bookings for lecture theatres/supervision rooms in the department;
  • maintaining the telephone list, noticeboards and email groups;
  • updating the department website;
  • disseminating news via Facebook/Twitter and the Ginkgo newsletter;
  • assisting with teaching-related matters including student questionnaires, producing the lecture lists, receiving cheques for field trips; requests should be made as above;
  • preparation of handbooks such as the Induction Handbook Including Health and Safety Information;
  • technical equipment available at Reception: PC, a colour flatbed scanner (although the photocopier on the first floor will scan), a colour laser printer, digital camera, laptop and laser pointer for seminars, franking machine;
  • dealing with Departmental Car Parking badge applications annually;
  • applying for a Raven account or an email address.
