I'd like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our LGBT+ colleagues to Cambridge and to introduce the LGBT+ Staff Network.

The Network is here to support all individuals who work for the University, a College or an associated institution and who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or other minority gender identities and sexual orientations. We organise social events and networking
opportunities throughout the year and help arrange events to raise awareness and celebrate diversity at the University and in Cambridge. We are also a place to provide a forum for discussing diversity issues at work or study and for raising issues in a safe environment.

Cambridge University has a rich history of LGBT+ staff, fellows and students, and the University is committed to being an open, diverse and inclusive place to work and study. But what is life really like for its LGBT+ staff?

Staying in touch

We have an email list on which we post future events, as well as interesting and useful information for LGBT+ Staff. To join, please visit:

You will need a University affiliation to join, but if you would rather add your personal email rather than your work email, please contact me nd I will add you manually. The list is moderated and only the LGBT+ Staff Network Committee has access to the membership list.

You can also join the Staff Network's Facebook group.

We are busy organising a series of events over the next academic year. We hold our regular monthly social on the first Wednesday of every month (excluding our November social) upstairs at Baroosh, 8 Market Passage, CB2 3PF. These are always good fun and we regularly have 20-30 members attending - but we'd love to have more, so please join us! We are also planning other events throughout the year, including during LGBT+ History Month in February.

If you have any questions about the Network or how we can help support you, please feel to free to email me.

‘Welcome to Cambridge’ event - 1 November 2017

Date and time: 6.30pm on Wednesday 1 November (registration from 6pm)

Venue: McGrath Centre, St Catharine's College

To register, please visit: (If you would rather remain anonymous, you're welcome to just turn up.)

Best wishes,
Craig Brierley,
Chair, LGBT+ Staff Network
